LED Marine Lighting: Bright Seas Ahead

Among looking very cool on your vessel LED marine lights are also effective for safety, fishing and leisure. These LED install kits can come customizable to almost any color and have effects of strobing and other patterns to make your boat the center of attention. Some product lines feature app compatibility to give you total control from the wheelhouse or the yacht club. These kits can begin under 500$ and can range upwards of a couple thousand depending on customer requests and size of vessel. Whether for your 20-foot fishing boat or 150-foot mega yacht the marine LED market provides an option for you. Below we will take a look at just a couple names in the industry to see what’s out there to a consumer.

Based in Delray Beach, Florida; Lumitec Lighting offers it’s SeaBlaze LED underwater lights which project the highest lumens per dollar on the market, are built using state of the art technology and the highest quality materials and are designed to run cooler, consume less power and last longer than other conventional LED underwater lighting technologies. Another awesome technology is Lumitec’s Mantis Dock Light system leveraging the cutting edge Quattro Spectrum underwater light but adds an innovative universal mounting system and a completely new full-immersion rear seal and wire technology, which will give you the best looking dock on the water. Lights mount easily to square or round pilings up to 14” in diameter / 12” square – even on pilings with the typical ‘fenders’ above the waterline. A typical installation takes less than 90 minutes and doesn’t even require a permit in many municipalities.

5 Important Boater Safety Rules Summer for 2019 on Lake of the Ozarks

Lake Ozarks Boat Crash Dock Safety

Conveniently located in the heart of Missouri, The Lake of the Ozarks is the Midwest’s premier lake resort destination, offering world-class boating and fishing. At its deepest points Lake of The Ozarks can reach 130 feet deep and covers over 61,000 square miles.

Party Cove Lake of the Ozarks

While a great place for fun and adventure it is also important to understand some safety tips for our lake. No matter how much experience you have, it’s always a good idea for everyone to understand boating safety rules and practices before leaving the dock. Below are a few safety tips to help you boat responsibly and enjoy your time on Lake of The Ozarks this summer and in the future.

  1. Be prepared with safety gear

You can’t always predict an emergency, so be prepared for any situation. Here are some essential items to keep on board no matter the size of your boat: flashlight with extra batteries, first aid kit, whistle ropes and a fire extinguisher.

  1. Bring the proper life jackets

Life jackets do more than simply keep you afloat. Many are designed to turn an unconscious person face up and even help prevent hypothermia. By law, all boats must have a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket for each person on board. Some states also require children to wear life jackets at all times. There are many types of life jackets on the market. Make sure the one you buy is appropriate for your on-water activity.

  1. Take a boating safety course

The U.S. Coast Guard estimates that 70% of boating accidents are caused by operator error. Before you leave the dock, make sure you know the rules and your responsibilities.

There are several online courses available, including a few free courses. The Boat US Foundation offers a free online boating safety course developed specifically for each individual state. The U.S. Coast Guard offers an additional list of online and hands-on courses for boating safety.

  1. Use common sense on the water

Rules on the water aren’t much different than rules on the road. It’s important to use common sense, such as staying alert at all times, operating at a safe speed and ensuring that passengers stay safely within the boat’s railings. Also while anchored it is important if you have swimmers in the water they are clearly visible to other boaters.

  1. Develop a Float Plan

Whether you choose to inform a family member or staff at your local marina, let someone else know where you’re going and how long you’re going to be gone. A float plan can include the following information: name, address, and phone number of trip leader and passengers; boat type and registration information; trip itinerary; and, types of communication and signal equipment onboard, such as an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon or Personal Locator Beacon.

We wish everyone a fun time on the lake, and really, really encourage safe boating and please, never drink and drive! Have an Epic rest of your Summer!!

New Stereo Installed with Fusion Radio and WetSounds Amps and Speakers

Both back and front of the Carver yacht, we installed WetSounds speakers that are RGB Color Changing with colors and pattern changes that are remote controlled.

To lead the speakers, the customer had chosen to use the Fusion Radio as the unit to be installed by the steering wheel.

Then a new Garmin VHF radio was installed to communicate with other vessels in the area of Lake of the Ozarks.

Garmin offers communications and Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) designed to enhance convenience and safety for mariners worldwide. All include Digital Selective Calling (DSC), a global protocol that uses channel 70 to transmit and receive digital messages. VHF radios equipped with DSC can send and receive digital emergency messages, private calls and general calls and let you call attention to VHF calls by using stored Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) numbers. DSC significantly improves the chances of rapid rescue.
