Formula Fine-Tunes Day Cruiser Line With Addition of 370 Super Sport

DECATUR, IN—Thunderbird Products has mastered day cruising with the Formula 370 Super Sport. Poised to settle in as a logical transition from the Formula 350 Sun Sport to the 400 Super Sport, the 370 carries off the combination of beautiful styling and exhilarating performance that is expected of a Formula.

The hand of Thunderbird’s exclusive designer, John Adams, is clearly evident in the 370 Super Sport. While striking in line and plentiful in amenities, this performance artist belies its own agility and speed generated by Formula’s stepped-hull FAS3TECH™ technology. With a 21° deadrise, the ride is as solid and confident as that of its FAS3TECH™ counterparts and the 400 Super Sport which preceded it. Speeds in the mid-fifty mph range with stern drive power options of either twin Volvo 8.1 GSi DPs or twin MerCruiser 496 MAG MPI HOs are astounding for a 37′ boat with a dry weight of 14,400 pounds and a generous 10′ 6″ beam.

Inspired by its predecessor, the 400 SS, the 370 is designed with ample room in mind for both cockpit and cabin. Integrated dash steps and the beautiful curved-glass windshield with center walk-through allows easy access to the nonskid foredeck center walkway. Also reminiscent of the 400 is the forward-swept radar arch, adding a continental flavor to the look of the 370.

The cockpit of the 370 SS proves that Formula has mastered the art of designing and building the most advanced day cruisers in the industry. While designed primarily as a daytime entertainment platform, the 370 Super Sport easily slips into the role of extended cruiser. Storage compartments are fully integrated throughout, allowing everything to be stowed neatly in specific areas. Seating and sunning areas are designed for the total comfort of the captain and passengers. A large U-shaped lounge starboard of the transom entry treats passengers to plenty of space and accommodates the entire crew for a meal or snacks by adding the tables. The lounge can also be filled in with the cushions to form a king-size sunning area. Forward, the unique, angled port seat is perfect for three seated passengers or one reclining.

The 370’s command layout illustrates the celebrated Formula demand for correct ergonomics in its cockpits. A sturdy, smartly designed, two-position helm seat provides excellent support while sitting, and also allows the captain to lean back comfortably against the specially designed adjustable section while standing. Monitoring gauges and assessing all on-board systems is a simple, natural extension of the helm. The expansive command seat will also accommodate a passenger, so it is possible to seat 12 people in comfort. Cupholders are plentiful and easily reached by all.

A complete galley wetbar in the cockpit opposite the U-shaped lounge is fitted with a Corian® countertop, integrated sink, pullout refrigerator with beverage rack, built-in trash receptacle and 120V GFCI outlet. The wetbar also includes storage for a standard 17-quart Igloo® cooler, making it easy to transfer beverages or ice from shore. Storage below the wetbar gives plenty of room for entertaining necessities. Sleek, molded fiberglass projects a beautiful, completely integrated appearance, while lending itself to quick cleanups when needed.

The 370 Sun Sport is equipped with an abundance of sleek, molded fiberglass storage areas, making it easy to stow away everything needed for a longer cruise. Beneath the aft seating are voluminous storage compartments, while the aft “trunk,” accessible from the swim platform and identical to the 400’s, has dedicated storage for lines and four standard fenders. It also stores the cockpit tables and doubles as the engine hatch, saving valuable cockpit space. Other storage areas are located under the helm seat and below the dash. Everywhere you look in the cockpit of the 370, you will discover ample, convenient storage.

The cabin, entered through a one-piece, curved acrylic door which slides neatly into the dash, is elegant, with an expansive, curved UltraLeather™ lounge forward. The adjustable height dining table converts the lounge into a double berth. A 26″ LCD/HDTV/DVD combo is built in at the ideal viewing height and angle from the lounge. A Kenwood® AM/FM/CD stereo system with changer is located in the main salon as well as 800W of amplification and an iPod docking station. The galley is a sophisticated work of art, from the Corian® countertop to the high-gloss Deep Cheery-finished cabinetry. A polished stainless sink, integrated trash receptacle and electric stove are standard features. The impressive list of galley equipment also includes a microwave oven. Cabinets are plentiful, and lower cabinets are lighted when opened.

The aft cabin stateroom features a queen-size bed and a large storage area at the foot of the bunk as well as 110V AC, 12V DC and telephone hook-ups. The head compartment is spacious and comfortable with a molded fiberglass vanity, Corian® countertop, stainless sink and seperate shower area with molded-in seat.

Ready to explore local waters with the family or to make a long-range voyage with companions, the Formula 370 Super Sport is sure to fulfill the desires of the day cruiser enthusiast.
